JODI CLEGHORN
Jodi is
the full time Mum of a five year old son, an often
distracted partner who makes up with great scalp massages, a terrible
house-keeper, selfproclaimed recovering addict of
‘busy-ness’ who is
learning to say ‘no’, lover of movies, books, music
and the internet, a
purveyor of fine cake and pastries, gourmet cook and a negotiator who
puts the UN’s best to shame (what mother wouldn’t?)
She is also a
writer in whatever spare time the Universe offers up.
For three years Jodi ran the magazine Down to Birth a grassroots natural birth and parenting magazine on behalf of the Home Midwifery Association (HMA) in Brisbane. As well as editorial duties, she designed and laid out 12 issues of the magazine from January 2005 to June 2008. Jodi has written educational material for the HMA, press releases for the QLD branch of Maternity Coalition and government submissions on maternity reform and breastfeeding. She also did a tour of duty coordinating the Brisbane homebirth support group, before giving up all volunteer work in 2008 to focus solely on has passion of writing.
In 2007 Jodi completed the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) committing 50,000 words to paper in 30 days, for a still-to-be-completed political thriller rather poorly titled ‘Finding Aphrodite’. Jodi has completed NaNo twice since and looks forward to 2010. In March 2008 Jodi sold her first short story Demon Lover to the Getting Hitched website and looks forward to having more of her stories accepted for publication. Together with 9 other writers from around thw world, Jodi co-wrote, editied and produced an exciting evolution inteh short story anthology they named Chinese Whisperings. There are also more writing and creative projects in the wings with Annie.
Not surprisingly Jodi’s areas of interest are birthing, mothering, feminism, menstruation, reclaiming the lost feminine, mythology, biomedical and social models of health care and delivery, spirituality, astrology and psychology. Her writing style is eclectic stretching across the genres of speculative fiction, romance, adventure, political thriller and humour.
Through
Jodi’s involvement
with the HMA and the Goddess Association of Ausrtalia
she discovered her passion for women’s stories and wisdom,
and felt
that she had been chosen to share herjourney as a woman, and in doing
so encourage other women to share theirs with honesty and courage. The
completion of Reclaiming Sex After
Birth
is
the culmination of four years of being immersed in the old oral
traditions of women, their shared story telling and wisdom. It is also
the merging of a love of writing that Jodi has carried with her entire
life. Jodi sincerely hopes that is a drop in a pond that
sends ripples far beyond anywhere Annie, Kerri
and Jodi could have imagined when they began this project.
Jodi is a prolific, though sporadic blogger - see below for the links to her online ramblings and musings. Look me up on facebook or swing by my blogs!

She studied Performing Art in England; Marketing, Communications, Cultural Studies, Professional Writing and Drawing at UNISA and the School of Art. Danae continues to study in any spare moment she has. Her current interests are alchemical psychology, myth and archetype.
Danae has had her poetry published in The Piping Shrike, a publication of the University of SA, and has written press releases, marketing material and webpages for the past three years. She also hosts a popular blog Danae Sinclair, where she shares her writing, artwork and thoughts. Her beautiful series of bird drawings such as Groom accompany many of her blog posts, creating a blog that is not only insightful but a visual feast.
As a mother she comments, “I dont want mothering to be my most outstanding feature, although it usually is - five daughters came through this body, into the world, and they are utterly amazing.”
While Danae, is the first to say that she is ‘only a mother who loves to draw’ you will agree with us once you have seen her artwork, that she is a considerable talent and we feel very blessed to have had her create new illustrations to be included in this eBook.
